Chosen Spot dinners take place outside, with a full view of the carriage house and this extraordinary cactus

Chef John Lyle’s menu for Chosen Spot Dinner #3, which takes place on August 11, was announced this morning, after plenty of teasing by Hardcore  Farm To Face.

Things begin with a sweet corn and peach popsicle, which will be followed by blackened Ling Cod with a crispy cheese-stuffed squash blossom and a zesty orange pepper and tomato coulis. After a summer herb salad dressed with verjus and local olive oil, you’ll enjoy slow-roasted Berkshire porchetta with potatoes, green beans and figs.

A cheese course includes Vella Cheese raw milk Cheddar, Dry Jack and Toma, Redwood Hill Farms goat geta and Camillia, Santa Rosa Plum preserves, ugniberries, tomato jam and spicy pickled carrot. This course will be paired with Lost Orchard Hard Apple Cider.

Dessert is a nectarine galette with fleshly mown hay–seriously–ice cream.

There will be plenty of wine, too, of course.

For reservations, which are essential, call 524-5445 and be prepared to pay be credit card. You may also reserve your seat at lutherburbank.org.

Dinners begin with a stand-up appetizer reception at 5:30. Family style dinner starts at 7 p.m.

Cost is $75 per person and all proceeds benefit Luther Burbank Home & Gardens.

These are lovely events in a gorgeous setting right on the edge of downtown Santa Rosa, at 204 Santa Rosa Ave.

Luther Burbank in his green house, in a suit and tie. People dressed much more formally then so why not have some extra fun by dressing up for dinner?

In honor of Burbank and his time, why not dress for dinner, as they did then? It makes it all the more fun.
