    I like to keep a batch of the Spicy Flu Chaser chicken soup, from the New England Soup Factory Cookbook, in the freezer, so if I get a cold or flu during the winter it’s there waiting for me. It’s got an extra-rich broth, about 20 cloves of roasted garlic, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne, and lots of lemon juice. And plenty of chicken.

    The recipe calls for adding rice but I prefer to add orzo or egg noodles after I defrost it.

    I also like to get a good sorbet to help with sore throat–cold, sweet and smooth, just feels so good.
