In the 1980s, three pioneer farmers–Jeff Dawson of Grandview Farm, Leonard Diggs of The Farmery and Scott Mathieson of Laguna Farm–began growing mesclun, a French-inspired mix of salad greens harvested, leaf by tiny leaf, young.
