It is blueberry season and what a glorious season it is.
Blueberry season is in full swing in Sonoma County now. After you've eaten your fill of them neat, here are a few of my favorite ways to enjoy them.
With nearly all seasonal markets now open--a mid-summer Thursday evening farmers market in Sebastopol is still a possibility--Sonoma County has almost thirty farmers market days each week. Six markets operate year round, providing eight farmers market days a week; the rest are seasonal.
Today, Leuschen cares for a flock of about 800 birds, nearly two dozen of which are roosters. Currently, the hens are producing about 30 dozen fertile eggs a day. By the end of summer, when some of the younger birds come into production, there will be about 40 dozen a day. The eggs are sold direct to customers from the farm.
