Now that the Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market has gotten steady sea legs at its new location, it is time for a party. A grand opening celebration takes place this Saturday–June 30–from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The fete features fun for everyone, including kids, who will enjoy magicians, balloon artists and The Boys and Girls Club booth.

KSRO AM will broadcast live from the market. First will be Steve Garner’s Garden Talk, with popular co-host Dave Fazzio of Sonoma Mission Nursery, from 9 to 11 a.m. Following Garden Talk is The Good Food Hour, co-hosted by renowned chef John Ash. The Good Food Hour is the longest running food show in the state and Garner is the most masterful and engaging host we’ve ever heard.

Coinciding with the celebration is a new seafood vendor who will be at the market for the first time this Saturday. John Legros, son of Dave Legros, will be hosting the stall with fresh wild salmon, wild Gulf shrimp and flounder, delicious scallops and much more. Fisherman Dave Legros is familiar to anyone who attends the Healdsburg and Sebastopol markets and is known not just for his fresh seafood but also for smoked salmon, clam chowder, salmon cakes and other specialties available on a rotating basis.

The Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market, founded in 1978 and currently managed by Paula Downing, takes place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays year round, rain or shine. It is located in the southeast parking lot of the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, 50 Mark West Spring Rd.
